当我们在享受WinME带来的乐趣时，也发现WinME不再像Win9x一样支持DOS的启动。虽说Windows取代DOS将成为主流操作系统，但DOS环境有时候还是很有用的。DOS中这么多好的小工具真是让人怀念，特别是在对付系统崩溃时DOS发挥了巨大的作用。WinME放弃DOS模式，也就意味着它将不再使用CONFIG.SYS和AUTOEXEC.BAT文件，而有些老硬件偏偏需要这两个文件的支持。这可真是件让人头痛的事情，使用新系统付出的代价就是放弃老系统，能否让我们鱼于熊掌都兼得呢？
幸好有个小工具Real DOS-Mode Patch for Windows Me，可以解决我们的烦恼。这个程序能让WinME中的DOS模式重新出现，让新旧两种系统共存。在使用该工具时需要提醒大家，由于该程序不提供反安装程序，在使用前最好必要的备份。
首先去下载（ftp://www.newhua.com/mfddme13.zip）该文件，程序不大，不到10K。将文件解压，放在一个临时目录，比如path。
复制io.sys、command.com和regenv32.exe三个文件到这个临时目录中去。io.sys位于C盘根目录下，command.com在C:\windows中，而regenv32.exe在C:\windows\system里面。同时将三个文件备份，以供在出现问题时进行恢复。
去掉三个文件所有的属性，在文件右键菜单“属性”中进行修改。在修改前，记下三个文件有哪些属性，因为后面还要将其属性恢复。
运行path目录中的Winmedos.com文件，完成对文件的修改。然后将三个文件拷贝到它们原来各自的目录下，并修改回它们原来的属性。
接下来需要修改CONFIG.SYS和AUTOEXEC.BAT文件。在CONFIG.SYS中添加“DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\IFSHLP.SYS”这一行，在AUTOEXEC.BAT文件的最后添加“C:\WINDOWS\WIN.COM”，保存后即完成WinME下DOS模式的修改。
重新启动系统，在启动时按下“Shift＋F8”组合键可以直接进入DOS实模式。
如果在使用中发现有问题，只要将开始备份的文件恢复到它们原来的目录即可。最后要说明的是，该程序只适合于WinME的4.90.3000版本，这个版本号可以在“控制面板”中的“系统属性”里面查看。

Fortunately, there is a small tool called Real DOS-Mode Patch for Windows Me that can solve our troubles. This program can make the DOS mode in WinME reappear and allow the coexistence of old and new systems. When using this tool, everyone needs to be reminded that since this program does not provide an uninstaller, it is best to make necessary backups before use.
First, go to download (ftp://www.newhua.com/mfddme13.zip) this file. The program is not large, less than 10K. Extract the file and put it in a temporary directory, such as path.
