我有一台NEC PC9821 的机子，是日本本土机子。
PC-9821系列电脑是日本NEC公司（日本电气公司）推出的个人电脑，它与我们通常所用的IBM兼容机、MAC机硬件结构都不相同，操作系统也不同，是日本本土化的产品。
二手笔记本电脑市场上的低价格机型中，有相当数量的电脑就属于PC98机型，主频在120-200，如果机器上有“PC98”字样，那就要当心了。这种电脑只能安装日文版的windows95/98，它的启动盘也是专用的，一旦它的启动系统被破坏，而你又没有备份的启动软盘，它很可能变成一台“裸机”。许多二手电脑的购买者，事先没有思想准备，电脑一到手就想改装中文的操作系统，常常就犯这样的致命错误：用英文DOS系统盘根本无法启动，把硬盘放到其他电脑上做好系统也无法启动。
为什么日文98可以直接安装呢?因为Window95/98是32位操作系统，英文DOS是16位，而NEC PC9821用的是12位的DOS，日文98完全兼容它，所以它所做的启动盘,可以启动系统,而我们的98只能做出16位的DOS启动盘，所以不能启动系统，更不用谈安装了。具体介绍：
