不能启动DOS！！

在启动时按F8选择第五个选项（Command prompt only ）可以启动，但选第7个选项（Previous version MS-DOS） 就不行了，一直停在STARTING.......，硬盘灯不亮，没读硬盘。为什么？？？？
Press F8 during startup and select the fifth option (Command prompt only) to boot, but selecting the seventh option (Previous version MS-DOS) doesn't work, always stuck at STARTING....... with the hard drive light not on and no hard drive reading. Why???

因为MS-DOS 7.0以前的版本不支持FAT32分区！用第五项的MS-DOS 7.10启动纯DOS就可以了。
Because versions of MS-DOS prior to 7.0 do not support FAT32 partitions! You can just boot into pure DOS with the fifth item, MS-DOS 7.10.

不是的，并没有其它的版本的DOS，我只是将c:\windows\command（是WIN98的)下面的所有文件拷贝到C:\DOS和c盘根目录下而已。
No, there are no other versions of DOS. I just copied all the files from c:\windows\command (which is for WIN98) to C:\DOS and the root directory of the C drive.

不是啦，因为这里有个应用软件是一定要dos的支持的，而且有时须要在dos下启动pwin32，pwin32好像一定要dos的支持。

那是个商业软件加密狗的，你写的那篇文章我已看过的，你所指的补丁程序是那个呀？不过用win/s启动成功了。但现在最主要的问题是为什么不能用第7项启动，而只能选第5项启动？？选7启动时错误提示好像说：“你的dos版本不支持，启动失败”，然后就出现dos提示符了，应该是转到第5个选项一样的。还有查看版本是用ver吗？好像显示的都是什么win的版本，setver有什么用呀？

But the main problem now is why it can't start with option 7, and can only select option 5 to start? 有了第五项的话，第七项就没有什么用了，如果不能启动第七项的话也不必理会，因为用第五项就可以了，也更加实用。SETVER是设置DOS版本号。

没有用。不是版本号的原因，只要用那个补丁就可以了。即使将MS-DOS 5.0的版本号修改为MS-DOS 9.0，Pwin3.2都可以运行的。
It doesn't work. It's not the reason of the version number. As long as you use that patch, it's okay. Even if you modify the version number of MS-DOS 5.0 to MS-DOS 9.0, Pwin3.2 can run.
