Haha, good news!!
Finally solved the playback problem of rm files, it seems that only the sound card driver is a bit of a headache now.

I just updated this MPlayer a little bit and put it on the website. Everyone can give it a try and share your feelings after using it. By the way, I tried it just now, and it can completely play the movies in the DVD! For example, using PLAY D:\VIDEO_TS\xxx.VOB can directly play this DVD movie file under pure DOS.

MS-DOS 7.1

It indeed works best in the MS-DOS 7.1 environment with long filename support. I used it to play a newly downloaded Japanese anime (RMVB format), and it felt very smooth. The video quality is not worse than that of players like KMPlayer, Media Player Classic (such as those with audio codecs like K-Lite Codec) under Windows. And the sound effect is also good (I'm using an SB Live! sound card).

It supports, but of course through HX. This MPlayer on DOS is exactly using OpenGL for playback. For more detailed information and instructions, you can take a look at this new thread:

OpenGL is a cross-platform 2D/3D graphics interface, which itself has nothing to do with hardware acceleration. Although hardware acceleration can be achieved through some external forms. In other words, OpenGL acceleration is an independent function and is not necessarily included in OpenGL itself.

QV under DOS supports hardware acceleration for quite a few graphics cards. See here:

haha, it would be best if it can be open - sourced............Why is that? Most 32 - bit programs in DOS are not very efficient............In terms of graphics. Can we draw on the code of Linux?

The biggest shortcoming of the MPLAYER DOS version is that there is no interface. It would be very nice to have a simple QV interface. In Linux, it can be used both in text mode and under X. Having an interface is indeed much more convenient. Looking forward to experts completing it.

Actually, the Windows and Linux versions of mplayer.exe themselves are not graphical interfaces either. Those interfaces are all external GUI programs written by others (later one of them was included in the official version). And MPlayer has just been able to run in pure DOS, so there is naturally no GUI interface at present. Now, as long as some expert writes a simple interface or port the frontends from the Linux Console over, it can be done.
