My USB system disk has been made and is now undergoing final testing. Here's a brief introduction first.
This is a full-function USB flash drive I made that integrates system maintenance, LAN and Internet use under DOS, multimedia under DOS, WINXPE, GEEXBOX, and FANX. There are many features, briefly introduced as follows:
This USB flash drive is in USB_ZIP boot mode, with the prompt being a:.
Except for txt files, no other files in the root directory can be deleted.
The DOS directory in the root directory contains some programs used during startup.
Another directory in the root directory is BOOT, where all tools are concentrated:
encrypt.exe. Run it, and it will prompt you to enter a password. This program will modify password.sys, and then when you start DOS, it will ask you for the previous password. Don't forget it, but if you really forget, run encrypt.exe again under XP and enter a new one.
The other programs under BOOT are very common, so no introduction here.
Directories under BOOT:
There is another BOOT directory under it. Here are some things needed for startup under MSDOS, that is, for autoexec.bat and config.sys startup, such as win32, win98, dwarf's DOS tools, FANX, LAN (only supports my 8139 network card, you need to make some modifications if using other ones. The network card driver can be found in \BOOT\NET\PACKET. There are many source programs in it, and only com or exe files are the drivers to be used. The organization here hasn't been done yet).
CAI directory is TT and WT under DOS, programs for practicing English and Wubi input method. I used them when I was studying, so I collected them here.
cmosmenu directory, tools for modifying and backing up CMOS.
disktool directory, which contains some programs for restoring data and repairing hard drives. The famous DM, Disk Genius, and PQMAGIC (version 7.0, which is a bit old) are also placed here.
drv directory, common DOS drivers, including USB, NTFSPRO, IFS, IEEE1394, and PC card drivers for laptops.
ext directory, some DOS extension programs, including Chinese character systems TW, China Dragon, WPS, as well as program managers seal2, dn, nc, vc, etc.
ghost directory, including version 8.3 and version 11. If you never use version 11, you can delete it.
grub directory, a boot guiding tool. There is a BOOT directory in it. Some IMG files for GRUB startup and GEEXBOX are placed here.
media directory, which includes many multimedia tools, all collected from the Internet. Thanks to the China DOS Union and the New DOS Era website.
net directory, including a large number of tools for accessing the Internet and LAN, as well as executable drivers for network cards under DOS.
That's all for the simple introduction above.
There is a lot of content in this USB flash drive version, so a 512M USB flash drive is required. If you think it's too large, you can remove FANX or GEEXBOX. Delete \BOOT\BOOT\FANX and \BOOT\GRUB\BOOT\GEEXBOX respectively, and then modify the corresponding entries in menu.lst, autoexec.bat, and config.sys in the root directory. Then it can finally be placed in a 256M disk. If you only want to use FANX or GEEXBOX, it's simpler. FANX can be directly started with loadin under DOS and added to autoexec.bat. GEEXBOX is started with grub, and the startup parameters can be referred to in menu.lst in the root directory.
I hope everyone likes this "toy" I made.
